Day 5: No Place Like Home

Ok, traveling around the US has been fun...but after 20,000 miles we are very thankful to be "home." Now, for about two more months...we get to regroup, try to relax, catch up with homeschool and get ready to go back to the Philippines.
Having a HUGE yard is something we are really thankful for. The kids get to play outside all the the time and they love it. We've tried to spend our time wisely...doing many North America-specific activities. Jumping in leaves....check.
When six people are living out of one suitcase for several months, there's not a lot of room for other semi-essentials like...accessories. Now that we are done traveling, Skye has been making up for lost time. Hey, it's a well-known fact. If wearing one outfit at a time is good...wearing three at a time MUST be better...
After waay too much time sitting in a minivan....the boys are very thankful for the great outdoors. They have been spending every possible minute outside...exploring, bird-watching, hiking, camping outside for the first time, and shelter-making.
And, when you can't camp outside...blankets+imagination is a wonderful thing.
SkyePirate...Wouldn't want to meet her on a dark waterway at night....
After sleeping in many motels and on sleeping bags and lots of blow-up mattresses....they boys are very thankful to relax and "read" before bedtime.
And, having more room in bed is always a plus...not that they take advantage of it....
Spending time with Grampy and Grammy has been swell...
And sometimes....we just let proper table manners go out the window. Orange you glad?
Leif is.
The Fantastic Four have spent a lot of time clearing out an area in the woods where they can sit and hang out and have their "book club" as they call it.
And, after missing months of formal homeschool....everyone is back on the Elementary Ivy League track...starting with paper hand puppets of Julius Caesar & Roman Soldiers....and listening to their Latin...They actually love to sing their Latin songs, and seem to be doing better in Latin than in Visayan, the language we were using in the Philippines....Where did we go wrong?!?
And, when another day of Latin and Ancient history is done...we are thankful for Fire Pit Fun...
GIANT marshmallows included.
Some more marshmallow pics...
And s'more...
Umm...s'more...
Zero burned fingers and no hair set on fire = success.
Fall evening in Missouri---nice temps and no bugs.
And waay too much personality to fit in one picture.
Skye...Grampy...
Miss Sarah came for a visit...the kids were super stoked!
Our handsome young men modeled their sweet new-to-them shirts...
And Skye has been rocking the high heels....courtesy of the Mission Barrel...
In between modeling and survival skill training, there has been lots and lots of school...
Home-Ec....
P.E....
even more school...
And, Preschool.
What?!?  You said 'Plato' is our next class? I must have misunderstood...

Anyway...we are super thankful for a bit of down time before we hop on a jet plane, and head back to Asia again...
