August...and not quite everything after

Thousands.
Of.
Miles.
That's what August was for us. But it was also a lot more...As we traveled around the USA, sharing about our ministry in the Philippines, we also...

Had a chance to meet Dora! And her lesser known cousin, Diego. Skye was quite excited to meet another Explorer...

And, we got to see LOTS of family....

And more family...

And old co-workers who are practically family!

Along the way, we had lunch at Oofda Tacos...just your average Swedish-Mexican fusion eatery...

We saw the biggest muskie EVER....

And, got to share about tribal missions with the kids at VBS in Minnesots!

Skye turned four the day we got back to Missouri....we drove 13 hours on her birthday...

And, we finally got the kids fishing....

Skye got one.

Slater got one...

Leif waited to get one....actually all the kids caught at least one fish...so it was a very successful first fishing experience.

Uncle Brandon showed up and did more cool experiments....

And the kids discovered the art of dam-building....it kept them entertained for hours.

We saw more friends....

And then set out on the road again , for an epic 3-week Western Adventure. First stop was some friends in Lincoln, Nebraska.

We stopped in the Badlands...really beautiful. And Bad. Really Bad.

We made the obligatory stop at Wall Drug...and had some free ice water.

And we found a sweet (free) airplane museum in South Dakota. You can walk right up and touch the airplanes and a Minuteman Missile....the boys had a blast. Including daddy.

We stopped  by Rushmore and saw some famous heads...

Storybook Island in Rapid City, South Dakota is where fairy tales (sort of) come to life! It's a (free) playground where you can play on your favorite fairy tale. The kids had a great time.

And of course we had to stop at Devils Tower...

We got to see old friends in Cody, Wyoming.

And more friends in Montana...

Idaho!

Idaho!

Washington!

And....Pike's Market in Seattle. Well. that was the end of August...but not exactly the end of our trip. Stay tuned for our September installment of Johnson Road Trip Awesomeness!!

A Berry Strawberry Shortcake 4th Birthday

Hi This is Skye. Today is my birthday. But instead of a party, we are going for a 13-hour drive. I'm cool with that.

For my b-day, I get to go to McDonald's. Twice. In my pajamas. In two different states.

The first pic was me at McD's in Iowa. This one is me with Ronald in Missouri. They tasted pretty much the same.

Finally, we celebrated my b-day one day late. I had bacon and pancakes with whipped cream and sprinkles. Life is good.

I also got Strawberry Shortcake body art. Very cool.

And of course, Berry Shortcake. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. It was berry delicious.

Shortcake, and chocolate cupcakes. I should have birthdays more often.

Being four means I'm old enough to do all kinds of stuff.

Mostly  monkey business.

I finished off my big day with bubble tea and Strawberry Shortcake toys. It's good to be 4.
