I think it was somewhere during the first full day of hiking the Ozark Highlands Trail when we realized we were not hiking in Missouri anymore. The uphills were longer, the downhills were shorter, and our packs were even heavier than usual.
It was fun. In an exhausting, my-pack-hurts-my-back-and-I-see-another-hill sort of way.
On our second morning we were walking down the trail when Micah stopped very abruptly. I can’t remember exactly what he said, but check out this video to see what we saw.
By the time we left, only the chipmunk’s tail was visible. I had never seen anything like it, even in a zoo.
